“I am stunned and delighted. I had tasked Jeni with creating a frame for the famous portrait of Rabbie Burns by Alexander Nasmyth. I'd grown up with this portrait greeting me each morning as I entered my school, and had rediscovered his poetry and songs when I lived in Scotland for the past ten years. I've since returned to the States and wanted this portrait to hang above my desk, providing inspiration and comfort, now that I've had to leave my beloved Scotland. Jeni understood the relevance of this piece, and created a wondrous, organic setting for this stately portrayal of the National Bard. The gilded sand slip, a feature popular in Burns' time, reminds me of Scotland's beaches - St Andrews, where I went to Uni, Portobello, from the years I spent in Edinburgh, and Horgobost, on Harris' Westen Coast, where I did my fieldwork for my degree. The concealed corners of the frame are soft and weathered, lending to the frame an aged effect, worn-in and comfortable, like an old coat.

Without being presumptuous, it is a worthy frame for The National Poet, and I am honoured, pleased and delighted to have it in my home. Thank you, Jeni!”
