Judge Death
Art work of the Week: Judge Death
My artwork of the week on this occasion is a striking print of the plainly terrifying 2000AD comic book character Judge Death by artist Florian Bertmer
The client wanted a frame that wouldn't distract from the terrifying man in the picture; and to that end I chose a plain deep studio frame- hand finished in 'studio green'- in order to tone in with the greens in the print. As for the mount I used a grey/ blue that would reflect the grey/ blue of Judge Death's veins running through the portrait . I chose these elements so they combine in such a way as to heighten and compliment the sense of decay and festering deterioration promoted by the colour scheme, while meeting the objective of not taking attention away from the piece.
My client has brought in a few unusual pieces in the past to be framed - usually from niche pop culture, and this is no exception. No doubt there will be more weird and wonderful projects to come. Watch this space!
