An Enthusiast
This week’s feature is a really a collection by a local gentleman from Anstruther, who has recently discovered an avid interest in painting- swearing not to stop plastering oil on canvas until his wall is decorated entirely with little rectangular musings of the East Neuk of Fife.
Style
The ‘artist’ has chosen unusual scenes not typical of the East Neuk; steering clear of fiishing boats and harbours, going for locations you need to consider yet are still beautiful and known to the area.
Using a bright exaggerated colour pallatte with the exception of ‘Road to Caiplie, which bears more of a resemblance to a scene from Fargo.
Frames
The frames have all been made in the same style in order that they match .
Dark brown wood
Distressed to give the sense of timelessness.
This finish was selected ans the client is keen on antiques and curiosities and I wanted something to help his pictures feel at home in their environment.
This finish has been used several times in the recent months since it’s initial creation earlier this year for another client.
The artist has plans to continue painting unusual scenes of Fife and challenging our perceptions of them- so expect to see more in the future; and we welcome that challenge.
